THE DOG AND THE DUCK

"Hello, Quacker! Do you want to go to the beach?" asked Jerry the dog.

"Why, yes! I would be delighted," said Quacker.

"Do you want to lay in the sun or do you want to swim?" asked Quacker.

"I would like to do both," said Jerry.

"Okay, we'd better get going," said Quacker.

After Jerry and Quacker swam, they walked to the park to have lunch and some fun.

"I have a peanut butter sandwich and some apples," said Jerry. " What else do you want for lunch?"

"That will be plenty," said Quacker.

After lunch Quacker and Jerry decided they would play on the playground. "I want to play on the junglegym," said Jerry.

"I want to play on the slide," said Quacker.

"Do you want to slide with me?" asked Quacker.

"No, not really," said Jerry.

"Are you afraid of going down the slide?" asked Quacker.

"Of course, I'm not afraid of the slide. I'm a dog!" exclaimed Jerry.

"Are you sure you are not afraid of the slide?" asked Quacker. "If you are not afraid, then why don't you slide with me?"

Jerry said, "I'm a little afraid of the slide because of it being so high." Quacker slid down the slide and walked over to Jerry who was a little embarrassed. "I wish you had told me that," said Quacker, "because after all we are best friends."

"That's right, Quacker! Best friends do look out for one another," said Jerry.

"Let's go and get something to eat while we look at the stars," said Jerry. Quacker and Jerry went and got their picnic basket and walked by the pond when Quacker saw a shooting star.

"Look at that! A shooting star!" shouted Quacker.

"Hurry, make a wish!" said Jerry.

"I wish that we could stay best friends forever!" said Quacker.
